Photography retreat for women photographers

Siegrid contacted me in November 2014 to host an all women analogue photographers’ retreat at my previous guesthouse. This was quite a feat as I hosted 12 ladies from all over Europe, and had to style, cook and organise interesting itineraries in this beautiful, rugged part of France, my beloved Bourbonnais.

I managed, between the shopping and cooking, to show them Vichy, the queen of Spa Towns in France; Charroux, a beautiful medieval village perched on a hill with views that carry on forever, and arranged for them to attend the opening of an exhibition in another beautiful medieval town called Chateldon, best known for its sparkling water. (It was said that Louis the XIV had the waters of Châteldon brought to Paris on donkey back after his doctor Guy-Crescent Fagon said : “The waters of Châteldon will heal your Majesty sometimes, will relieve you often but will always console you.”)

Well, what a blast. Not only did the ladies learn from Siegrid and Isabel, the 2 presenters, but also from each other and, boy, did I learn from them. In particular, how wonderful support among women can be.

This worked so well that they asked me to join them in Valence for their second retreat!

When I contacted Lynn to help organise a photography retreat for women in France, she more than I could have wished for – truly the best person for the job. Not only did she source the perfect accommodation for our group of 12 and made sure all meals suited everyone's dietary requirements, Lynn also organised interesting excursions to the surrounding medieval towns and had us invited to a photography exhibition - which was all perfectly matched to the main purpose of our retreat - photography. Lynn has a wonderful, welcoming energy; is easy to work with and always full of ideas to enhance the stay and to make the most of the time provided. Her organisational skills are exceptional, so I hired her again for another women’s photography retreat in Valencia, Spain, where she again made sure we were all cared for physically, emotionally and culturally. All our attendees were beyond happy with the retreats and agree that Lynn made all the difference. I could not have done all of this without her and I look forward to working with Lynn again on many future occasions.
